ಯಾರನ್ನ ನಂಬಿದರೂ ಆರೈದು ನಂಬಬೇಕು

ಯಾರಾದರೂ ಹೊಸದಾಗಿ ಪರಿಚಯವಾದಾಗ ಅಥವಾ ತುಂಬ ಅಂದವಾಗಿರುವವರು, ಬುದ್ಧಿವಂತರು ಅನ್ನಿಸಿಕೊಂಡವರು, ಬಣ್ಣ ಬಣ್ಣವಾಗಿ ಮಾತಾಡುವವರು ತಮ್ಮ ಸಂಪರ್ಕಕ್ಕೆ ಬಂದಾಗ ತಕ್ಷಣ ಅವರನ್ನು ಒಳ್ಳೆಯುವರು ಎಂದು ನಂಬಿಬಿಡುವ ಮುಗ್ಧತೆ ಕೆಲವು ಜನರಲ್ಲಿ ಇರುತ್ತದೆ. ಇಂತಹ ಸ್ವಭಾವವುಳ್ಳವರಿಗೆ ಎಚ್ಚರಿಕೆ ಕೊಡುವ ಗಾದೆ ಮಾತಿದು. ಮನುಷ್ಯರಲ್ಲಿ ಒಳ್ಳೆಯವರು ಇರುವಂತೆಯೇ ಒಳ್ಳೆಯವರಂತೆ ನಟಿಸುವವರೂ ಅಂದರೆ ತಮ್ಮ ನಿಜ ಮುಖದ ಮೇಲೆ ಮುಖವಾಡ ತೊಟ್ಟವರೂ ಇರುತ್ತಾರೆ. ಹಾಗೆಯೇ ದೇವರಂತಹ ಜನಗಳು ಇರುವಂತೆ, ಸ್ವಾರ್ಥಿಗಳೂ, ಸಮಯ ಸಾಧಕರೂ, ಬೆನ್ನ ಹಿಂದೆ ಚೂರಿ ಹಾಕುವವರೂ ಇರುತ್ತಾರೆ. ಹೀಗಾಗಿ ಒಬ್ಬ ಹೊಸ ವ್ಯಕ್ತಿಯನ್ನು ನಂಬುವ ಮುಂಚೆ ಅವರ ಗುಣ-ಸ್ವಭಾವಗಳನ್ನು ಅರಿಯಲು ಪ್ರಯತ್ನಿಸಬೇಕು, ಈ ಬಗ್ಗೆ ಚೆನ್ನಾಗಿ ಯೋಚಿಸಿ ನಂಬಬೇಕು. ಮೇಲ್ನೋಟಕ್ಕೆ ಕಂಡದ್ದನ್ನೇ ಕಣ್ಣು ಮುಚ್ಚಿ ನಂಬಿಬಿಟ್ಟರೆ ಮುಂದೆ ನಿರಾಸೆ, ಅಪಾಯಗಳು ಕಾದಿರಬಹುದು. ಹೀಗೆ ಈ ಗಾದೆಮಾತು ಮನುಷ್ಯರ ಜೊತೆ ತೊಡಗಿಕೊಳ್ಳುವಾಗ ಒಂದು ಎಚ್ಚರಿಕೆಯ ಗಂಟೆಯಾಗಿ ನಮ್ಮ ಸಹಾಯಕ್ಕೆ ಬರುತ್ತದೆ.

Kannada proverb – yaaranna nambidru aaraidu nambabeku (whomever you trust, first think deeply about it).

Some of us trust others very easily. When we are introduced to a person if he or she is very good looking/ charismatic/intelligent/capable we instantly trust him or her to be a good natured person. We forget the hard fact that they may be putting façade, a mask. There might be a selfish, two-timing, backstabbing untrustworthy person behind that glittering outer persona. This possibility cannot be ruled out. It is not that every person we meet is a bad person, but before we trust that person and show our vulnerable side to him or her we better think once deeply. So this age old Kannada proverb comes handy when we deal with new people in our lives.
