ಕನ್ನಡ ಗಾದೆಮಾತು – ಗಾಣಗಿತ್ತಿ ಅಯ್ಯೋ ಅಂದ್ರೆ ನೆತ್ತಿ ತಣ್ಣಗಾಗುತ್ತಾ?

ಕನ್ನಡಿಗರು ತಮ್ಮ  ಮಾತಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಆಗಾಗ ಬಳಸುವ ಒಂದು ಗಾದೆ ಮಾತು ಇದು. ಗಾಣ ಅಂದರೆ ಎಣ್ಣೆ ತೆಗೆಯುವ ಯಂತ್ರ, ಆದರಲ್ಲಿ ಕೆಲಸ ಮಾಡಿ ಎಣ್ಣೆ ತೆಗೆಯುವವಳು ಗಾಣಗಿತ್ತಿ. ಎಂದಾದರೂ ಮೈಯಲ್ಲಿ ಉಷ್ಣ ಹೆಚ್ಚಾಗಿ    ತಲೆಯೇನಾದರೂ ಬಿಸಿಯಾಗಿ ‘ಯಾರಾದರೂ ನೆತ್ತಿಗೆ ಒಂದು  ತೊಟ್ಟು ಎಣ್ಣೆ ತಿಕ್ಕಿದರೆ  ಚೆನ್ನ ಅಲ್ಲವೇ’ ಅನ್ನಿಸುತ್ತಿದ್ದಾಗ ನಾವು ಗಾಣಗಿತ್ತಿಯನ್ನು ಭೇಟಿಯಾದೆವು  ಎಂದಿಟ್ಟುಕೊಳ್ಳೋಣ. ಆಗ ಆಕೆ ತನ್ನ ಬಳಿ ಇರುವ ಎಣ್ಣೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಒಂದು ಹನಿಯನ್ನೂ ಕೊಡದೆ ಬಾಯಲ್ಲಿ ಮಾತ್ರ “ಅಯ್ಯೋ ಪಾಪ, ನಿಮಗೆ ಉಷ್ಣ ಆಗಿದೆಯೇ? ನೆತ್ತಿಗೆ ತುಸು ಎಣ್ಣೆ ತಟ್ಟಿಕೊಂಡರೆ ಚೆನ್ನಾಗಿರುತ್ತಿತ್ತು…..

ಪಾಪ…ಪಾಪ” ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿದರೆ ನಮ್ಮ‌ ನೆತ್ತಿ ತಣ್ಣಗಾಗುವುದಿಲ್ಲ, ಅಲ್ಲವೇ? ಇದೇ ರೀತಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಕೈಯಲ್ಲಿ ನಿಜವಾದ ಸಹಾಯವನ್ನೇನೂ ಮಾಡದೆ ಬರೀ ಬಾಯುಪಚಾರ ಹೇಳಿದರೆ ನಮ್ಮಿಂದ ಯಾರಿಗೂ ಏನೂ ಪ್ರಯೋಜನವಾಗುವುದಿಲ್ಲ. ಇಂತಹ ಜೀವನ ವಿವೇಕವನ್ನು ಈ ಗಾದೆ ಮಾತು ಹೇಳಿಕೊಡುತ್ತದೆ.

Kannada proverb : Gaanagiththi ayyo andre neththi thannagaaguththa? ( If the woman at the oil mill shows lip sympathy, will your head get cooled? )

Sometimes words are cheap. Lip sympathy does not help. Sweet words won’t quench hunger or soothe a head which needs an oil massage. Therefore if a woman of the oil mill simply showers sympathy on us without giving even one drop of oil our stressed out heads won’t cool down. So this proverb of Kannada warns us against the situations of offering  just lip sympathy and not really helping our fellow beings.
