ಕನ್ನಡ ಗಾದೆಮಾತು –  ಗಣೇಶನ್ನ ಮಾಡು ಅಂದ್ರೆ ಅವರಪ್ಪನ್ನ ಮಾಡಿದ್ರಂತೆ!

ಕೆಲವರಿಗೆ ಯಾವ ಕೆಲಸ ಕೊಟ್ಟರೂ ಅವರು ಅದನ್ನು ಸರಿಯಾಗಿ ಮಾಡುವುದಿಲ್ಲ. ಉದಾಹರಣೆಗೆ ಯಾವುದೋ ಸಾಮಾನು ತಾ ಅಂದರೆ ಇನ್ಯಾವುದನ್ನೋ‌ ತರುವುದು, ಅಡಿಗೆಗೆ ಒಂದು‌‌ ಹಿಡಿ‌ ಉಪ್ಪು ಹಾಕೆಂದರೆ ಮೂರು ಹಿಡಿ ಹಾಕಿಬಿಡುವುದು…..ಹೀಗೆ. ಇಂಥವರು ಪ್ರತಿಯೊಂದು ಕೆಲಸದಲ್ಲೂ ಯಡವಟ್ಟು ಮಾಡುತ್ತಾರೆ. ಇಂಥವರ ಬಗ್ಗೆ ಹೇಳಿರುವ ಮಾತಿದು. ಗಣೇಶನ ಮೂರ್ತಿಯನ್ನು ಮಾಡು ಎಂದರೆ ಅವರ ತಂದೆಯಾದ ಶಿವನ ಮೂರ್ತಿಯನ್ನು ಮಾಡಿದರೆ ಏನು ಮಾಡಬೇಕು ನೀವೇ ಹೇಳಿ! ಇಂತಹ ಯಡವಟ್ಟರಿಗಾಗಿಯೇ ಮಾಡಿರುವ ಗಾದೆ ಮಾತಿದು. 

Kannada proverb – Ganeshanna maadu andre avarappanna maadidranthe( They made the idol of Ganesha’s father when they were asked to make Ganesha’s idol).

Some people mess up every thing they do. If they are asked to bring bread they will bring butter and vice versa. If they are called in the morning they will come in the evening. If they are instructed to add salt they add sugar! To describe such people this proverb uses the visual images of idols of Ganesha and his father Shiva, which are very dissimilar to look at, in comparison.
