ಕನ್ನಡ ಗಾದೆಮಾತು – ಊರಿಗೆ ಆಳಲ್ಲ, ಮಸಣಕ್ಕೆ ಹೆಣ ಅಲ್ಲ.

ಮನುಷ್ಯನ ಇರವು ಹೇಗಿರಬೇಕು ಅಂದರೆ ಅದರಲ್ಲಿ ಒಂದು ದೃಢತೆ, ಸ್ಥಿರತೆ, ವಿಶ್ವಾಸನೀಯತೆ ಇರಬೇಕು.‌ ಅವುಗಳಿಂದ ಜನರು ಆ ವ್ಯಕ್ತಿಯನ್ನು ಗೌರವಿಸುವಂತೆ ಆಗಬೇಕು. ಇದು ಬಿಟ್ಟು ಯಾವ ಕೆಲಸವನ್ನೂ ಸರಿಯಾಗಿ ಮಾಡದೆ ಊರಿನವರ ಕಣ್ಣಲ್ಲಿ ಬೆಲೆ ಕಳೆದುಕೊಂಡರೆ, ಅಂತಹ ವ್ಯಕ್ತಿಯ ಬಗ್ಗೆ ಜನರು ಮೇಲ್ಕಂಡ ಗಾದೆಮಾತನ್ನು ಬಳಸಿ ನಿಂದನೆಯ ನುಡಿಗಳನ್ನಾಡುತ್ತಾರೆ – “ಛೆ, ಏನು ಬಾಳು ಅವನದ್ದು! ಊರಿಗೆ ಆಳಲ್ಲ, ಮಸಣಕ್ಕೆ ಹೆಣ ಅಲ್ಲ.‌ ಯಾವುದಕ್ಕೂ ಪ್ರಯೋಜನ ಇಲ್ಲ ಬಿಡಪ್ಪ” ಎನ್ನುತ್ತಾರೆ.‌ ನಾವು ಎಂದಿಗೂ ಜನರ ಬಾಯಿಂದ ಇಂತಹ ಮಾತು ಕೇಳಿಸಿಕೊಳ್ಳದಂತೆ ಜಾಗ್ರತೆಯಿಂದ, ಜವಾಬ್ದಾರಿಯಿಂದ ಬದುಕು ಸಾಗಿಸಬೇಕು‌.‌ ಅಲ್ಲವೇ? ಭಾಷೆಯ ದೃಷ್ಟಿಯಿಂದ ಈ ಗಾದೆಮಾತು ಎಲ್ಲಿಯೂ ಸಲ್ಲದವರ ಬಗ್ಗೆ ಬಹಳ ಪರಿಣಾಮಕಾರಿಯಾಗಿದೆ.‌ ಅಲ್ಲವೇ?

Kannada proverb – Oorige aalalla, masanakke hena alla (He is neither a (working) man for the village  nor a deadbody for the graveyard).

In the Kannada speaking world, if a person is not good at anything he does and wastes his time always, this proverb is uttered to criticise him. ‘This person does not belong anywhere. He is neither a proper worker in our place nor a dead body in the graveyard’. We can see that this proverb is strongly worded and expresses great disgust at people who are useless to the community. It also is a word of caution about how not to live our lives.
