ಹತ್ತ್ ಜನಕ್ಕೆ ಹುಲ್ಲ್ ಕಡ್ಡಿ, ಒಬ್ಬಂಗೆ ತಲೆಹೊರೆ.

ಕನ್ನಡದ ಒಂದು ಸತ್ವಯುತ ಗಾದೆಮಾತು. ಇದರ ಅರ್ಥ ಹೀಗಿದೆ. ಹುಲ್ಲುಹೊರೆಯೊಂದನ್ನು ಹತ್ತು ಜನ ಹಂಚಿಕೊಂಡು ಹೊತ್ತರೆ ಒಬ್ಬೊಬ್ಬರಿಗೆ ಹೊರಲು ಒಂದೊಂದೇ ಹುಲ್ಲುಕಡ್ಡಿ ಬರುವುದರಿಂದ ಅದು ಭಾರ ಅನ್ನಿಸುವುದಿಲ್ಲ. ಅದೇ ಹುಲ್ಲುಹೊರೆಯನ್ನು ಒಬ್ಬನೇ ವ್ಯಕ್ತಿ ಹೊತ್ತರೆ ಅದು ಅವನಿಗೆ ತುಂಬ ಭಾರ ಅನ್ನಿಸುತ್ತೆ. ಇದೇ ರೀತಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಕಷ್ಟದ ಕೆಲಸಗಳನ್ನು ಮಾಡುವಾಗ ಜನರು ಒಂದು ತಂಡವಾಗಿ ಸೇರಿ ಎಲ್ಲರೂ ಸ್ವಲ್ಪ ಸ್ವಲ್ಪ ಕೆಲಸ ಹಂಚಿಕೊಂಡು ಮಾಡಿದರೆ ಕಷ್ಟ ಅನ್ನಿಸುವುದಿಲ್ಲ, ಒಬ್ಬರೇ ಮಾಡಿದರೆ `ಅಯ್ಯೋ, ಸಾಕಪ್ಪಾ’ ಅನ್ನಿಸುತ್ತದೆ.

Kannada proverb – Hathth janakke hul kaddi, obbange tale hore (A straw of hay for ten people but a burden for one).

It means that if one person carries a bundle of hay, it feels like a big burden to him, but if ten people share that weight, each person gets only one straw to carry. This Kannada proverb hints at the sharing of work among members of a group and promotes team spirit in them.
