ಹಳೆ ಚಪ್ಪಲಿ ಹೊಸ ಹೆಂಡತಿ ಕಚ್ಚೊಲ್ಲ.

ಲೋಕಾನುಭವದ ಮಾತು ಇದು. ಹಾಕಿ ಹಾಕಿ ಹಳೆಯದಾದ ಚಪ್ಪಲಿ ಪಾದಕ್ಕೆ ತುಂಬ ರೂಢಿಯಾಗಿರುವುದರಿಂದ ಅದು ಪಾದವನ್ನು ಕಚ್ಚಿ ಚುಚ್ಚಿ ನೋಯಿಸುವುದಿಲ್ಲ. ಹೀಗೆಯೇ ಹೊಸದಾಗಿ ಮದುವೆಯಾದ ಹೆಂಡತಿ ಇನ್ನೂ ಎಲ್ಲ ಅಪರಿಚಿತವಾಗಿರುವುದರಿಂದ ಒರಟಾಗಿ ನಡೆದುಕೊಳ್ಳವುದಿಲ್ಲ. ಆದರೆ ಹೆಂಡತಿಗೆ ಗಂಡನ ಸ್ವಭಾವ ಮತ್ತು ಅತ್ತೆ ಮನೆ ರೂಢಿಯಾದ ಮೇಲೆ ಅವಳು ತನ್ನ ಕೋಪ, ಅಸಾಮಾಧಾನಗಳನ್ನು ಪ್ರಕಟವಾಗಿ ತೋರಿಸಲು ಹಿಂಜರಿಯುವುದಿಲ್ಲ. ವಿಚಿತ್ರವೆಂದರೆ ಚಪ್ಪಲಿಯ ವಿಷಯದಲ್ಲಿ ಇದು ಉಲ್ಟಾ ಆಗಿರುತ್ತದೆ. ಚಪ್ಪಲಿ ಹೊಸದಾಗಿದ್ದಾಗ ಹೊಂದಾಣಿಕೆಯ ಸಮಸ್ಯೆಯಿಂದಾಗಿ ಪಾದವನ್ನು ಕಚ್ಚುತ್ತದೆ. ಈ ಗಾದೆಮಾತು ಜೀವನಾನುಭವನ್ನು ಒಳಗೊಂಡಿದ್ದು ತುಸು ಹಾಸ್ಯಮಯವೂ ಆಗಿದೆ!

Kannada proverb – Hale chappali hosa hendathi kachcholla(old slipper and new wife won’t bite).

This is a proverb which is derived from a lot of life experience and some humour too. An old slipper (foot wear) will be very comfortable so that it will not irritate the foot. And it is also true that a new wife will not irritate her husband because of novelty of marriage and the new atmosphere she is witnessing, but as the wife gets old and become experienced she will not hesitate to reprimand her husband. Very interestingly it is the new slipper which irritates the wearer!
