ಕನ್ನಡ ಗಾದೆ ಮಾತು – ಚಿನ್ನದ ಸೂಜಿ ಅಂತ ಕಣ್ಣು ಚುಚ್ಕೊಳೋಕ್ಕಾಗುತ್ತಾ?

ಕನ್ನಡ ಜನರು ಬಳಸುವ ಒಂದು ಅನುಭವಜನ್ಯ ಮಾತು ಇದು. ಸೂಜಿಯನ್ನು ಚಿನ್ನದಿಂದ ಮಾಡಿದ್ದಾರೆ ಎಂದು ಕಣ್ಣಿಗೆ ಚುಚ್ಚಿಕೊಂಡರೆ ಅದು ಚುಚ್ಚದೆ ಇರುವುದಿಲ್ಲ, ಅಲ್ಲವೇ? ಹಾಗೆಯೇ ನಮ್ಮವರು ಎಂದು ನಾವು ಭಾವಿಸುವವರು ಕೆಟ್ಟದ್ದನ್ನು ಮಾಡಿದರೆ ಅದು ಕೆಟ್ಟ ಕೆಲಸವೇ ತಾನೇ.‌ ನಮ್ಮ ಮಕ್ಕಳು/ನೆಂಟರು/ಸ್ನೇಹಿತರು ತಪ್ಪು ಕೆಲಸ ಮಾಡಿದಾಗ ಅದನ್ನು ಒಪ್ಪಿಟ್ಟುಕೊಳ್ಳಲು ಸಾಧ್ಯ ಇಲ್ಲ.‌ ಇಂತಹ ವಿಷಾದಕರ ಸಂದರ್ಭಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಮೇಲ್ಕಂಡ ಗಾದೆಮಾತನ್ನು ಬಳಸಲಾಗುತ್ತದೆ. 

Kannada proverb – Chinnada sooji antha kannu chuchkolloke aaguththa? ( Just because the needle is made with gold, can we prick our eyes with it?)

The above proverb is generally used in situations where our near and dear ones make mistakes or blunders which are serious and punishable. Just because it is  our loved ones who committed those unacceptable deeds, the latter do not become good and acceptable. Isn’t it? In such unfortunate circumstances the above proverb is used. It makes a lot of sense because of the metaphor it has.
