ಕನ್ನಡ ಗಾದೆಮಾತು – ಮುತ್ತಿಗಿಂತ ಹೊತ್ತು‌ ಉತ್ತಮ.

ಮೂರೇ ಪದಗಳಿರುವ ಗಾದೆ ಮಾತಾದರೂ ಬಹು ಮುಖ್ಯವಾದ ಜೀವನ ಸಂದೇಶವನ್ನು ಕೊಡುವಂತಹ ಸೊಲ್ಲು ಇದು. ಹೊತ್ತು ಅಥವಾ ಸಮಯವು ಬದುಕಿರುವ ಪ್ರತಿಯೊಬ್ಬರಿಗೂ ದಿನವೊಂದಕ್ಕೆ ಇಪ್ಪತ್ನಾಲ್ಕು ಗಂಟೆಯಂತೆ  ದೊರೆಯುವ ಸಂಪತ್ತು. ಇದು‌ ಉಚಿತವಾಗಿ ಸಿಗುವುದು ಹೌದಾದರೂ ಒಮ್ಮೆ ಕಳೆದುಹೋದರೆ ಏನು ಮಾಡಿದರೂ ಮತ್ತೆ ಮರಳಿ ಸಿಗುವುದಿಲ್ಲ. ಅಮೂಲ್ಯ ಮುತ್ತಾದರೂ, ಅದು ಕಳೆದು‌ಹೋದರೆ ಹೇಗಾದರೂ ಮಾಡಿ ಇನ್ನೊಮ್ಮೆ ಅದನ್ನು ಕೊಳ್ಳಬಹುದು. ಆದರೆ ಕಳೆದು ಹೋದ ಹೊತ್ತು ಮಾತ್ರ ಏನೇ ಮಾಡಿದರೂ, ಎಷ್ಟೇ ಹಣ ಕೊಟ್ಟರೂ ಮತ್ತೆ ಸಿಗುವುದಿಲ್ಲ. ಹಾಗಾಗಿಯೇ ನಾವು ಸಮಯದ ಮೌಲ್ಯವನ್ನು ಅರಿತು ನಮ್ಮ ಜೀವನವನ್ನು ಸಾಗಿಸಬೇಕು.

Kannada proverb – Muththigintha hoththu uththama (Time is more worthy than a pearl).

 It is true that we consider pearl, coral, ruby and such pricey things as precious. But if compared to the lost time in our lives, they are not as precious, because whatever we do we can not redeem a lost moment. We might be able to buy back a lost pearl if we spend money, but once time is lost it is lost forever. Even a king with all his wealth and riches can not get back the time which is gone. Therefore the above proverb says that time is more worthy (precious) than a pearl. This is a life lesson to remember about using our time well.
