ಕನ್ನಡ ಗಾದೆಮಾತು – ಲೋಕ ತಿಳೀಬೇಕು ಲೆಕ್ಕ ಕಲೀಬೇಕು.‌

ಲೋಕಜ್ಞಾನ ಎಂಬುದು ಯಾವುದೇ ಶಾಲೆ-ಕಾಲೇಜುಗಳಿಗೆ ಹೋದ ತಕ್ಷಣ ನಮ್ಮ ತಲೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಜನ್ಮಿಸಿಬಿಡುವಂತಹದ್ದಲ್ಲ. ಅದು ಈ ಲೋಕದಲ್ಲಿ ಜೀವಿಸಿ, ಕಷ್ಟ ಸುಖ ಅನುಭವಿಸಿ, ಜನ ಮತ್ತು ಜೀವನದ ನಡೆ, ರೀತಿಗಳನ್ನು ಗಮನಿಸಿಯೇ ಗಳಿಸಿಕೊಳ್ಳಬೇಕಾದ ಜ್ಞಾನ‌. ಹೀಗೆ ಲೋಕವನ್ನು ಅರಿಯುತ್ತಾ ಹೋಗುವಾಗ ಲೋಕದಲ್ಲಿ ಬಾಳುವುದಕ್ಕೆ ಲೆಕ್ಕ-ಲೆಕ್ಕಾಚಾರ ಕೂಡ ಎಷ್ಟು ಮುಖ್ಯವಾಗುತ್ತದೆ ಎಂಬ ಸತ್ಯ ನಮ್ಮ ಅರಿವಿಗೆ ಬರುತ್ತದೆ. ಲೋಕದ ಲೆಕ್ಕ-ಲೆಕ್ಕಾಚಾರ ಗೊತ್ತಿಲ್ಲದವರು ಸದಾ ಮೋಸ ಹೋಗುತ್ತಿರುತ್ತಾರೆ. ಲೋಕದಲ್ಲಿ, ಅದರಲ್ಲೂ ಮನೆಯಾಚೆಗಿನ ಹೊರಪ್ರಪಂಚದಲ್ಲಿ ಯಾವುದೂ ಉಚಿತವಾಗಿ ದೊರಕದು ಎಂಬ ಒಳಮರ್ಮ ನಮಗೆ  ನಿಧಾನವಾಗಿ ಗೊತ್ತಾಗುತ್ತಾ ಹೋಗುತ್ತದೆ. ಲೋಕ ತಿಳಿದವನು ಅದರ  ಲೆಕ್ಕ-ಲೆಕ್ಕಾಚಾರ ಕಲಿತವನಾಗಿರುತ್ತಾನೆ‌. ಹೀಗೆ ಈ ಗಾದೆಮಾತು ನಾವು ಬಾಳುವೆ ಮಾಡಬೇಕಾದಾಗ ನಮ್ಮನ್ನು ಎಚ್ಚರಿಸುವ ಒಂದು ವಿವೇಕದ ನುಡಿಯಾಗಿದೆ. 

Kannada proverb – Loka thileebeku, lekka kaleebeku'( One should understand the world, One needs to learn to calculate).

As we age and go into the adult world we begin to understand that it is not an easy job to understand the ways of the world. When less is more, when more is less, how much is too much, what makes one worldly wise….all these questions crop up in our mind. It is a hard truth that there are no free lunches in the adult world. We need to give something to get something. Our caste,  religion, colour, gender, socioeconomic status add up to results which we had never expected! Therefore it is a continuous learning process for us. The mathematics of the world affairs are much more complex than the actual Mathematics subject! It takes a life time and more to learn the calculations of the world which rule our lives! Therefore this proverb makes us think about the world around us and the calculations which make it the way it is.
