ಕನ್ನಡ  ವಿವೇಕದ  ಒಂದು ನೆಲೆಯನ್ನು ಬಹು ಅರ್ಥವತ್ತಾಗಿ‌ ಹೇಳುವ  ಗಾದೆ ಮಾತು ಇದು. ಮೊದಲು ಮನುಷ್ಯನು ತನ್ನ ಮನೆಯನ್ನು ನೆಮ್ಮದಿಯಿಂದ ಇರುವಂತೆ ನೋಡಿಕೊಳ್ಳಬೇಕು, ನಂತರವಷ್ಟೇ ಅವನು ಮಾರಿನ ಬಗ್ಗೆ ಅಂದರೆ ಮನೆಯಾಚೆಗಿನ ವಿಸ್ತಾರ ಪ್ರದೇಶದ ಹಿತ, ನೆಮ್ಮದಿಗಳ ಬಗ್ಗೆ ಆಲೋಚಿಸಬೇಕು.‌ ತನ್ನ ಮನೆಯನ್ನು ನಿರ್ಲಕ್ಷಿಸಿ, ನೋಯಿಸಿದವನು ಎಷ್ಟು ಲೋಕೋಪಕಾರ ಮಾಡಿದರೆ ಏನು ಪ್ರಯೋಜನ? ಯೋಚಿಸಿ ನೋಡಬೇಕಾದ ವಿಷಯ ಇದು.‌

Kannada proverb – Mane geddu maaru gellu – ( First win the hearts at your home, later you think of winning outside).

This proverb stresses on the importance of keeping our homes happy before we think of helping this world at large. Our winning at the world amounts to nothing if our home has no joy. Therefore first we have to work for the happiness of our home and only later we should venture to improve the world. Thus this particular proverb provides food for thought. Isn’t it?
