ಕನ್ನಡ ಗಾದೆಮಾತು – ಮರಣಕ್ಕೆ ಮದ್ದಿಲ್ಲ.

ನೋಡಿ, ನಮ್ಮ ನುಡಿಯಲ್ಲಿರುವ ಈ ಗಾದೆಮಾತು ಎರಡೇ ಪದಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಜೀವನದ  ಗಾಢಸತ್ಯವೊಂದನ್ನು ಹೇಳ್ತಿದೆ. ಹುಟ್ಟಿದವರಿಗೆ ಮರಣವು ಅನಿವಾರ್ಯ ಎಂಬುದು ಎಲ್ಲರಿಗೂ ಗೊತ್ತಿದ್ದರೂ, ತಾವು ಎಂದೂ ಸಾಯುವುದಿಲ್ಲ ಎಂಬಂತೆಯೇ ಜನರ ವರ್ತನೆ ಇರುತ್ತದೆ. ಮರಣವನ್ನು ಮುಂದೂಡಲು ಜನರು ಇನ್ನಿಲ್ಲದ ಪ್ರಯತ್ನಗಳನ್ನು ಮಾಡುತ್ತಾರೆ, ಅಷ್ಟೇ ಅಲ್ಲ ಚಿರಂಜೀವಿಯಾಗುವ ಆಸೆಯಿಂದ ಜನರು ಏನೆಲ್ಲ ಕಸರತ್ತುಗಳನ್ನು ಮಾಡುತ್ತಾರೆ ಎಂಬುದನ್ನು ನಾವು ಅನೇಕ ಸಲ ಗಮನಿಸುತ್ತೇವೆ ಅಲ್ಲವೇ? ನಮ್ಮ ಪುರಾಣಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಮಹತ್ವಾಕಾಂಕ್ಷಿ ರಾಕ್ಷಸರು ತಮಗೆ ಮರಣವೇ ಬರಬಾರದು ಎಂಬ ವರ ಪಡೆಯಲಿಕ್ಕಾಗಿ, ವರ್ಷಗಟ್ಟಲೆ ತಪಸ್ಸು ಮಾಡುತ್ತಿದ್ದರೆಂದು, ನಾವು ಕೇಳಿ, ಓದಿ, ಬಲ್ಲೆವು‌. ಆದರೆ ವಿಜ್ಞಾನಿಗಳು ಎಷ್ಟೇ ಪ್ರಯತ್ನ ಮಾಡಿದರೂ ಮರಣಕ್ಕೆ ಇನ್ನೂ ಔಷಧವನ್ನು ಕಂಡುಹಿಡಿಯಲು ಆಗಿಲ್ಲ. ಅದಕ್ಕೆ ಈ ಗಾದೆಮಾತು ಹೇಳುತ್ತೆ – ಮರಣಕ್ಕೆ ಮದ್ದಿಲ್ಲ.‌

Kannada proverb – Maranakke maddilla (There is no cure for death).

This proverb speaks about a  harsh certainty of life, that death is inevitable. Yes, there is no cure or remedy or medicine for death. In spite of all the aspirations and efforts from time immomerial, human beings have not been able to find a cure for death. It is nature’s law and rule that what is born will die one day. We have heard and read about mythical characters who tried to defy death but failed. Therefore whether human beings accept it or not the fact remains. There is no cure for death. In just two words this proverb of Kannada language has captured a poignant reality of life or a  poignant reality called death!
