ಗುಡಿಸಿದ್ರೆ ಕಸವಿರ್‍ಬಾರ್‍ದು, ಬಡಿಸಿದ್ರೆ ಹಸಿವಿರ್‍ಬಾರ್‍ದು

ಕೆಲಸ ಮಾಡುವ ಉತ್ತಮ ರೀತಿಯೊಂದನ್ನು ಹೇಳುವ ಕನ್ನಡ ಗಾದೆಮಾತು ಇದು. ಕಸ ಗುಡಿಸಿದರೆ ಸ್ವಲ್ಪವೂ ಕಸ ಇರದಂತೆ ಗುಡಿಸಬೇಕು ಮತ್ತು ಊಟ ಬಡಿಸುವಾಗ ಉಣ್ಣುವವರಿಗೆ ಹಸಿವು ಸ್ವಲ್ಪವೂ ಉಳಿಯದಂತೆ ಅಂದರೆ, ಅವರು ಹೊಟ್ಟೆ ತುಂಬ ಉಣ್ಣುವಂತೆ ಬಡಿಸಬೇಕು ಎನ್ನುವುದು ಇದರ ಮೇಲ್ನೋಟದ ಅರ್ಥ. ಯಾವುದೇ ಕೆಲಸ ಮಾಡಿದರೂ ಅದನ್ನು ಅಚ್ಚುಕಟ್ಟಾಗಿ, ಸಂಪೂರ್ಣವಾಗಿ, ಸಂಬಂಧ ಪಟ್ಟ ಸಹಜೀವಿಗಳಿಗೆ ತೃಪ್ತಿಯಾಗುವಂತೆ ಮಾಡಬೇಕು ಎಂಬುದು ಇದರ ಒಳ ಅರ್ಥ.

Kannada proverb: gudisidre kasavirbardu, badisidre hasivirbardu( If you sweep there should not be any trace of dust and dirt, and if you serve food there should not be any trace of hunger).

This proverb stresses on doing the job at hand well, and in the best possible way. Whichever job we do, we need to do it in a satisfying way which will help the beneficiaries. Proverbs were a way of teaching life lessons to the youngsters by the elders of families, in our villages of Kannada speaking regions. This proverb is an apt example of such a practice.
