ಕನ್ನಡ ಗಾದೆಮಾತು – ಬೀದಿ ಮಕ್ಕಳು ಬೆಳೆದೊ, ಕೋಣೆ ಮಕ್ಕಳು ಕೊಳೆತೊ.

ಕನ್ನಡ ನಾಡಿನಲ್ಲಿ, ಮಕ್ಕಳನ್ನು ಬೆಳೆಸುವ ಸಂದರ್ಭದಲ್ಲಿ ಬಳಸುವ ಒಂದು ಗಾದೆಮಾತು ಇದು.‌ ಬೀದಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಆಟ ಆಡಿಕೊಂಡು, ಜನರ ಜೊತೆ ಮಾತಾಡಿಕೊಂಡು, ತಪ್ಪು ಮಾಡಿದಾಗ ಬೈಸಿಕೊಂಡು, ಒಳ್ಳೆಯದನ್ನು ಮಾಡಿದಾಗ ಮೆಚ್ಚುಗೆ ಪಡೆದು….ಒಟ್ಟಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಪ್ರಪಂಚಕ್ಕೆ ತೆರೆದುಕೊಳ್ಳುವ ಮಕ್ಕಳು ಜೀವನದಲ್ಲಿ ಪ್ರಗತಿ ಸಾಧಿಸುತ್ತಾರೆ. ಅದೇ ಹೊತ್ತಿನಲ್ಲಿ, ಸದಾ ಮನೆಯ ನಾಲ್ಕು ಗೋಡೆಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಬಂಧಿಯಾಗಿ, ಜನರೊಡನೆ ಬೆರೆಯದೆ, ಪ್ರಪಂಚದ ಪರಿಚಯ ಇಲ್ಲದೆ ಹೋಗುವ ಮಕ್ಕಳ ಮನಸ್ಸು ನಿಂತ ನೀರಿನಂತೆ ಕೊಳೆಯುತ್ತದೆ. ಆದುದರಿಂದ ಮಕ್ಕಳನ್ನು ಅವರ ತಾಯ್ತಂದೆಯರು ಮನೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಕೂಡಿ ಹಾಕದೆ ನಾಲ್ಕು ಜನರೊಡನೆ ಬೆರೆಯಲು ಬಿಡಬೇಕು ಎಂಬುದು ಈ ಗಾದೆಮಾತು ಕಲಿಸುವ ಜೀವನಪಾಠವಾಗಿದೆ.

Kannada proverb – beedhi makkalu beledo, kone makkalu koletho ( Street children prospered, home children rotted).

This is a proverb used in the context of bringing up children. The children who are left free to roam in streets sometimes and not overprotected, learn the ways of the world by themselves. Therefore there is all likelihood that they will lead a fulfilling life when they grow up. In contrast, the children who are restricted to the four walls of the home and are not allowed to venture outside might suffer with a mind which resembles a  stagnant lake. This is why parents need to take care that their children mix with people and manage to be comfortable outside the home also.
