ಕನ್ನಡ ಗಾದೆಮಾತು – ಮರಕ್ಕಿಂತ ಮರ ದೊಡ್ಡದು.

ಪ್ರಕೃತಿಯ ಒಂದು ವಾಸ್ತವ ಸಂಗತಿಯ ಮೂಲಕ ಅಮೂಲ್ಯವಾದ ಜೀವನ ವಿವೇಕವನ್ನು ಮನದಟ್ಟು ಮಾಡಿಸುವ ಗಾದೆಮಾತು ಇದು‌. ಕಾಡಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಒಂದು ಮರವನ್ನು ನಾವು ಎತ್ತರ ಎಂದು ಭಾವಿಸುವಷ್ಟರಲ್ಲಿ ಅದಕ್ಕಿಂತ ಎತ್ತರವಾದ ಇನ್ನೊಂದು ಮರ ಕಾಣಿಸುತ್ತದೆ. ‘ಓಹ್ ಇದೇ ಎಲ್ಲಕ್ಕಿಂತ ಎತ್ತರವಾದ ಮರ’ ಎಂದು ಅಂದುಕೊಳ್ಳುವಷ್ಟರಲ್ಲಿ ಅದಕ್ಕಿಂತ ಇನ್ನಷ್ಟು ಎತ್ತರವಾದ ನಮ್ಮ ಕಣ್ಣಿಗೆ ಬೀಳಬಹುದು. ಹೀಗೆಯೇ  ಜೀವನದಲ್ಲಿ ನಾವೇ ದೊಡ್ಡ ಸಾಧನೆ ಮಾಡಿದ್ದೇವೆ ಎಂದು ಬೀಗುತ್ತಿರುವಾಗ ನಮಗಿಂತ ಹತ್ತು ಪಟ್ಟು ಹೆಚ್ಚು ಸಾಧನೆ ಮಾಡಿದವರು ಇದ್ದಾರೆ ಎಂದು ಗೊತ್ತಾದಾಗ ನಮ್ಮ ಭ್ರಮೆಯ ಗೋಳಕ್ಕೆ ಸೂಜಿ ಚುಚ್ಚಿದಂತೆ ಆಗುತ್ತದೆ, ಅಲ್ಲವೇ? ಅದಕ್ಕೇ ನೋಡಿ ನಮ್ಮ ಹಿರಿಯರು ಹೇಳಿದ್ದು 

‘ನೀವೇ ದೊಡ್ಡ ಸಾಧಕರು ಅಂತ ಬೀಗಬೇಡಿರೋ, ಮರಕ್ಕಿಂತ ಮರ ದೊಡ್ಡದು’ ಅಂತ.‌ ಇದನ್ನು ಅರಿತು ನಾವು ವಿನಯವಂತರಾಗಿ ನಡೆದುಕೊಳ್ಳಬೇಕು.‌ ಅಲ್ಲವೇ? 

Kannada proverb – Marakkintha Mara doddadu  (There is always a bigger tree than the one you are looking at). This is a proverb in Kannada which teaches us a very important life wisdom. Sometimes people become too proud of themselves and think that they are the best. They hold themselves too high and may start blowing their own trumpet. Then the wise and experienced among the community say that ‘Do not boast about yourself dear, you know that there is always a bigger tree than the one you are looking at. Therefore this proverb teaches the value of humility.
