ಕನ್ನಡ ಗಾದೆಮಾತು – ಹೊಸದರಲ್ಲಿ ಅಗಸ ಗೋಣಿಯನ್ನ ಎತ್ತೆತ್ತಿ ಒಗೆದನಂತೆ.

ಕನ್ನಡ ಭಾಷೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಬಹುವಾಗಿ ಬಳಕೆಯಾಗುವ ಗಾದೆ ಮಾತು ಇದು. ಜನರು ಯಾವುದಾದರೂ ಕೆಲಸವನ್ನು ಹೊಸದಾಗಿ ಶುರು ಮಾಡಿದಾಗ ಬಹು ಹುರುಪಿನಿಂದ ಅದರಲ್ಲಿ ತೊಡಗುತ್ತಾರೆ.  ಆ ಕೆಲಸದಲ್ಲಿ ಇರುವ ಅನಾಕರ್ಷಕ ಭಾಗಗಳನ್ನು ಸಹ ಉತ್ಸಾಹದಿಂದಲೇ ಎದುರುಗೊಂಡು ನಿಭಾಯಿಸುತ್ತಾರೆ. ಉದಾಹರಣೆಗೆ, ಬಟ್ಟೆ ಶುಚಿ ಮಾಡುವ ಕೆಲಸದ ಅಗಸನು ತನ್ನ ವೃತ್ತಿಯನ್ನು ಶುರು ಮಾಡಿದ ಹೊಸದರಲ್ಲಿ,

ಗೋಣಿಚೀಲದಂತಹ ಅಮುಖ್ಯ, ಅನಾಕರ್ಷಕ  ಅನ್ನಿಸುವ ಬಟ್ಟೆಯನ್ನೂ  ಸಹ ಬಹಳ ಉತ್ಸಾಹದಿಂದ ಒಗೆಯುತ್ತಾನೆ. ಆದರೆ ಬರುಬರುತ್ತಾ ಈ ಉತ್ಸಾಹ ಕಡಿಮೆ ಆಗುತ್ತದೆ ಹಾಗೂ ಕೆಲಸ ಮಾಡುವಾಗ ಅವನ ಮುಖದಲ್ಲಿ ಬೇಸರದ ಕಳೆ ತಾಂಡವವಾಡುತ್ತದೆ. ಇದು ಲೋಕಾರೂಢಿ. ಅದಕ್ಕಾಗಿಯೇ ಕೆಲಸ ಪ್ರಾರಂಭಿಸಿದ ಹೊಸದರಲ್ಲಿ ಯಾರಾದರೂ ಅತಿಯಾದ ಹುರುಪನ್ನು ತೋರಿದಾಗ ಜನ ಈ ಗಾದೆಮಾತನ್ನು ಬಳಸುತ್ತಾರೆ –  “ಅಯ್ಯೋ… ಗೊತ್ತು ಬಿಡು, ಕಂಡಿಲ್ವಾ..ಹೊಸದರಲ್ಲಿ ಅಗಸ ಗೋಣಿ ಎತ್ತೆತ್ತಿ ಒಗೆದನಂತೆ ಅಂದಂಗೆ” ಎನ್ನುತ್ತಾರೆ. ‌ ಅದರಲ್ಲೂ ಉದ್ಯೋಗ ಸ್ಥಳದಲ್ಲಿ ಹೊಸ ಉದ್ಯೋಗಿಗಳ ಬಗ್ಗೆ ಈ ಮಾತು ಹೆಚ್ಚಾಗಿ ಬಳಕೆಯಾಗುತ್ತದೆ. 

Kannada proverb – Hosadaralli agasa goniyanna eththethi ogedananthe( The washerman, new to his profession, washed the gunny bag with lot of zeal). 

This proverb throws light on a particular human nature regarding workplace or professional life. When someone is very new to his job or profession, he puts his heart and soul to his work and works with great enthusiasm, how much ever boring the work may seem to others. We can take an example of a washerman, who has just started his profession. He would  wash an ordinary gunny bag with much aplomb and zeal. However the same washerman, after some months or years into his job, may not feel so enthused when he washes the same gunny bag. This is a keen observation about the human nature. This applies to almost all the jobs and duties. Our ancestors do know a thing or  two about human nature. Don’t they?
