ಕನ್ನಡ ಗಾದೆಮಾತು – ಮಾಡೋರೊಬ್ಬಿದ್ರೆ ನೋಡು ನನ್ನ ಸಿರಿ. 

ಜೀವನದಲ್ಲಿ ಎಷ್ಟೋ ಸಲ, ನಾವು ಮಾಡಬೇಕಾದ ಕರ್ತವ್ಯಗಳನ್ನು ತಾವು ಮಾಡಿ, ನಮಗೆ ವಿಶ್ರಾಂತಿ-ಬಿಡುವುಗಳನ್ನು ಒದಗಿಸಿ, ನಮ್ಮ ಜೀವನವನ್ನು ಹಗುರ ಮಾಡುವವರ ಬಗ್ಗೆ ನಮ್ಮ ಗಮನ ಹೋಗುವುದಿಲ್ಲ. ಉದಾಹರಣೆಗೆ, ಕಾಲೇಜು ಓದುವ ವಯಸ್ಸಾಗಿದ್ದರೂ ಮಕ್ಕಳಿಗೆ ಮನೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಯಾವ ಕೆಲಸವನ್ನೂ ಹೇಳದೆ ಅವರ ಓದು, ಹವ್ಯಾಸ, ಸುತ್ತಾಟಗಳಿಗೆ ಅನುವು ಮಾಡಿಕೊಡುವ ತಾಯಿ-ತಂದೆ, ಸೊಸೆಗೆ ಅಳಿಯನಿಗೆ ತುಂಬು ಮನಸ್ಸಿನ ಸಹಕಾರ ನೀಡುವ ಅತ್ತೆ, ಮಾವ, ಭಾವ, ಮೈದುನ, ಅತ್ತಿಗೆ, ನಾದಿನಿ….ದೊಡ್ಡ ಮೊತ್ತದ ಸಂಬಳವಿಲ್ಲದಿದ್ದರೂ ಅಡುಗೆ, ಮನೆವಾಳ್ತೆ, ಚಿಕ್ಕ ಮಕ್ಕಳನ್ನು ನೋಡಿಕೊಳ್ಳುವುದು, ವಾಹನ ಚಾಲನೆ, ಮನೆ ಸಾಮಾನು ಖರೀದಿ, ಮನೆಯ ವಸ್ತುಗಳ, ವಾಹನಗಳ ನಿಗಾ ನೋಡುವ ಗೃಹ ಸಹಾಯಕರು, ವೃತ್ತಿ-ಪ್ರವೃತ್ತಿಗಳಲ್ಲಿನ ನಮ್ಮ  ಜಂಜಡಗಳನ್ನು ಕಡಿಮೆ ಮಾಡುವ ಸ್ನೇಹಿತರು, ಸುಮನಸ್ಸಿನ ಸಹೋದ್ಯೋಗಿಗಳು…..ಇಂತಹವರ ಋಣವನ್ನು ಎಂದೂ ತೀರಿಸಲಾಗದು.‌ ಇಂತಹ ಸನ್ನಿವೇಶಗಳಲ್ಲೇ ಮೇಲಿನ ಗಾದೆ ಮಾತು ಬಳಕೆಯಾಗುತ್ತದೆ – ಮಾಡೋರೊಬ್ರಿದ್ರೆ ನೋಡು ನನ್ನ ಸಿರಿ.

ಈ ಅರಿವು ನಮಗಿರುವುದು ಎಂದೆಂದಿಗೂ ಒಳ್ಳೆಯದು. ವಿವಿಧ ಕ್ಷೇತ್ರಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಸಾಧನೆ ಮಾಡಿದವರು ಬಹುಶಃ ತಮ್ಮ ಎದೆಯಲ್ಲಿಟ್ಟುಕೊಳ್ಳಬೇಕಾದ ಮಾತಿದು.

Kannada proverb – Madorobbridre nodu nanna siri! (Look at my extravaganza if someone is there to serve me!)

Sometimes we get lucky in life if a well meaning person like a parent, spouse, driver, assistant, househelp takes up more than their share of chores, so that we can pursue what interests us. It can be a simple thing like a mother packing elaborate lunch for her working son or daughter, or a sister who takes care of our kids while we are enjoying a kitti party. In those times we do well to remember that our extravaganza is due to the service mindset of the good souls we have in our lives. We can imagine our plight if they were not available to take up the burden, which was actually ours! Therefore we need to have gratitude in our hearts for those who serve us beyond the call of their duty.
