ಕನ್ನಡ ಗಾದೆಮಾತು – ಧೂಪ ಹಾಕಿದ್ರೆ ಪಾಪ ಹೋದೀತೆ?

ಪ್ರಾಸಬದ್ಧವಾದ ಮತ್ತು ಅರ್ಥಪೂರ್ಣವಾದ ಒಂದು ಕನ್ನಡ ಗಾದೆಮಾತು ಇದು‌. ಜನರು ಸುಳ್ಳು, ಮೋಸ, ಕಳವು, ಪರಪೀಡನೆ, ಜೀವಹಿಂಸೆ ಮುಂತಾದ ಪರಪೀಡನೆಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ತೊಡಗಿ (ಅಂದರೆ ಅನೇಕ ಪಾಪಗಳನ್ನು ಮಾಡಿ), ನಂತರ, ದೇವರ ಪೂಜೆಯನ್ನು ಧೂಪ ದೀಪಗಳೊಂದಿಗೆ ವಿಜೃಂಭಣೆಯಿಂದ ಮಾಡಿಬಿಟ್ಟರೆ, ಅವರು ಮಾಡಿದ ಪಾಪಕಾರ್ಯಗಳು ಮಾಯವಾಗಿಬಿಡುವವೇನು? ಖಂಡಿತ ಇಲ್ಲ. ಹೀಗಾಗಿ ‘ಪಾಪಕಾರ್ಯಗಳನ್ನು ಯಾವುದೇ ಕಾರಣಕ್ಕೂ ಮಾಡಬಾರದು ಮತ್ತು ಎಷ್ಟು ಧೂಪ ಹಾಕಿ ಪೂಜೆ ಮಾಡಿದರೂ ಈ ಕೆಟ್ಟ ಕೆಲಸಗಳ ಪರಿಣಾಮ ಹೋಗುವುದಿಲ್ಲ’ ಎಂಬುದು ಈ ಗಾದೆಮಾತು ಕಲಿಸುವ ಜೀವನಪಾಠವಾಗಿದೆ. 

Kannada proverb – Dhoopa haakidre paapa hodeethe? ( If you burn incense, will your wrong doings go away?)

There are people who indulge in wrong and antisocial deeds like theft, robbery, troubling fellow beings, causing damage …etc, and later burn a lot of incense while they worship God. Burning incense is a part of sacred offerings in Hindu culture. But this ritual will not nullify the wrong doings of the worshipper. Thus this proverb warns us not to indulge in wrong deeds because no amount of worship with incense will nullify them.
