ಕನ್ನಡ ಗಾದೆಮಾತು – ಆರಕ್ಕೇರಲಿಲ್ಲ ಮೂರಕ್ಕಿಳಿಯಲಿಲ್ಲ.

ಕನ್ನಡ ಭಾಷೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಆಗಾಗ ಬಳಕೆಯಾಗುವ ಒಂದು ಗಾದೆಮಾತಿದು. ಜೀವನದ ಕೆಲವು ಸನ್ನಿವೇಶಗಳು ಹೇಗಿರುತ್ತವೆ ಅಂದರೆ ನಾವು ಅಂದುಕೊಂಡಂತೆ ಯಾವುದೇ ಉತ್ತಮಿಕೆ, ಅಭಿವೃದ್ಧಿ ಆಗುತ್ತಿರುವುದಿಲ್ಲ, ಹಾಗೆಂದು ತೀರಾ ಇಳಿತವೂ ಆಗುತ್ತಿರುವುದಿಲ್ಲ. ಉದಾಹರಣೆಗೆ ಸೀಮಿತ ಸಂಬಳದ ಮಧ್ಯಮ ವರ್ಗದ ಜೀವನಕ್ರಮ,  ತೀರಾ ಹೆಚ್ಚು ಅಂಕ ತೆಗೆದುಕೊಳ್ಳದ ಆದರೆ ನಪಾಸಾಗದ ವಿದ್ಯಾರ್ಥಿಯ ವಿದ್ಯಾಭ್ಯಾಸ ಪರಿಸ್ಥಿತಿ, ಶಾಂತವಾಗಿ ಸಾಗುವ ನಿವೃತ್ತಿ ಜೀವನ…ಇಂಥವುಗಳ ಬಗ್ಗೆ ವ್ಯಾಖ್ಯಾನ ಮಾಡುವಾಗ “ಆರಕ್ಕೇರಲಿಲ್ಲ, ಮೂರಕ್ಕಿಳಿಯಲಿಲ್ಲ” ಎಂಬ ಗಾದೆ ಮಾತನ್ನು ಬಳಸುತ್ತಾರೆ.‌ ಹೆಚ್ಚು ಉತ್ಸಾಹವನ್ನೂ ಮೂಡಿಸದ ಆದರೆ ಅಂತಹ ಆತಂಕಕಾರಿಯೂ ಅಲ್ಲದ ಬದುಕಿನ ಒಂದು ನೆಲೆಯನ್ನು ಬಹಳ ಯುಕ್ತವಾಗಿ ಪ್ರತಿನಿಧಿಸುವ ಹಿರಿಯರ ಜಾಣ್ಣುಡಿ ಇದು.

Kannada proverb – Aarakkeralilla, moorakkiliyalilla( Not rose to six, not came down to three).

There are some situations in life where nothing exciting happens, but at the same time there is no recognizable downfall. For example, the life style of low salaried middle class, or school/college performance of an average student, life in a quaint village…etc. There is no dramatic changes in these situations in a long span of time. In such contexts, this proverb is used. It describes this particular life situation very aptly.
