ಕನ್ನಡ ಗಾದೆ ಮಾತು – ಸೌಟಿಗೇನು ಗೊತ್ತು ಸಾರಿನ ರುಚಿ?

ಜೀವನದ ಒಂದು ವಿಪರ್ಯಾಸವನ್ನು ಈ ಗಾದೆಮಾತು ಹೇಳುತ್ತಿದೆ. ಸೌಟು ಸದಾಕಾಲವೂ ರುಚಿಕರವಾದ ಸಾರಿನಲ್ಲೇ ಇದ್ದರೂ ಅದಕ್ಕೆ ಸಾರಿನ ರುಚಿಯನ್ನು ಸವಿಯುವ ಸಾಮರ್ಥ್ಯ ಇರುವುದಿಲ್ಲ. ಇದೇ ರೀತಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಮನೆ ತುಂಬಾ ಪುಸ್ತಕಗಳಿದ್ದರೂ ಒಂದು ಪುಸ್ತಕವನ್ನೂ ಓದದವರು, ಅತಿ ಸುಂದರವಾದ ಹೂವಿನ ತೋಟದಲ್ಲಿ ಓಡಾಡುತ್ತಿದ್ದರೂ ಒಂದೇ ಒಂದು ಹೂವಿನ ಅಂದವನ್ನೂ ಕಣ್ತುಂಬಿಕೊಳ್ಳದವರು, ಮುದ್ದಾದ ಮಕ್ಕಳ ನಡುವೆ ಇದ್ದರೂ ಒಂದೇ ಒಂದು ಮಗುವಿನ ಮುಗ್ಧ ಚೈತನ್ಯದ ಸಂತೋಷವನ್ನು ಅನುಭವಿಸದವರು, ಅವಕಾಶವಿದ್ದರೂ ಜೀವನ ಸಮೃದ್ಧಿಯಿಂದ ವಂಚಿತರಾಗುತ್ತಾರೆ. ಬದುಕಿನ ಒಂದು ನೈಜ ವಿಷಾದವನ್ನು ಈ ಗಾದೆಮಾತು ತುಂಬ ಪರಿಣಾಮಕಾರಿಯಾಗಿ ಹೇಳಿದೆ. 

Kannada proverb – Soutigenu goththu  saarina ruchi? (  The ladle knows nothing about curry’s/ soup’s taste).

The ladle is all the time in curry or soup because, it is used in serving these liquidy food items. But the paradox is the ladle does not know the taste of curry or soup. It simply does not have the capacity to relish a good delicacy in which it stays all the time! Similarly a person who does not read even one book, though the library is right at his home, a person who does not enjoy the beauty of flowers or innocence of children though he is amongst them, paints a sad picture. But we do find the such persons in life. Don’t we? And are we one of them? This is something to think about! Isn’t it?
