ಕನ್ನಡ ಗಾದೆಮಾತು – ನಮ್ಮೋರಿಗೆ ಮುಳುಗಿ ಬಾ ಸಟ್ಟುಗ, ಅನ್ನಿಗರಿಗೆ ತೇಲಿ ಬಾ ಸಟ್ಟುಗ.

ವಿಚಿತ್ರ ಅನ್ನಿಸಿದರೂ  ಕುಟುಂಬಗಳಲ್ಲಿ  ನಿಜವಾಗಿಯೂ ನಡೆಯುವ ಒಂದು ಪಕ್ಷಪಾತವನ್ನು ಈ ಗಾದೆ ಮಾತು ಪರಿಚಯಿಸಿದೆ.  ಮನೆಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ತುಂಬ ಜನ ಒಟ್ಟಿಗೆ ಊಟಕ್ಕೆ ಕುಳಿತಾಗ ಬಡಿಸುವವರು ತಮಗೆ ಇಷ್ಟ ಇರುವವರಿಗೆ ಸಾರಿನ ಹೋಳುಗಳು ಜಾಸ್ತಿ ಬರುವಂತೆ ಸಟ್ಟುಗ ಅಥವಾ ಸೌಟನ್ನು ಪಾತ್ರೆಯ ಆಳಕ್ಕೆ ಹೋಗುವಂತೆ ಮುಳುಗಿಸಿ‌ ಬಡಿಸುವುದು, ತಮಗೆ ಇಷ್ಟ ಇಲ್ಲದವರಿಗೆ ಸಟ್ಟುಗವನ್ನು ಮೇಲೆ ಮೇಲೆಯೇ  ತೇಲಿಸಿ ನೀರು ನೀರಾದ ಸಾರನ್ನು ಬಡಿಸುವುದು – ಹೀಗೆ ಮಾಡುತ್ತಾರೆ. ‌ಈ ರೀತಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ತಮ್ಮ ಸಹಜೀವಿಗಳ ನಡುವೆ ಕೆಲವೊಮ್ಮೆ ಬಹಳ ಸೂಕ್ಷ್ಮವಾದ ರೀತಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಬೇಧವನ್ನು ಆಚರಿಸುತ್ತಾರೆ.‌  ಹೀಗೆ ಭೇದ ಮಾಡುವವರ ಮನಸ್ಸು ಹೇಗಿರುತ್ತದೋ ಕಾಣೆ, ಆದರೆ ಅದಕ್ಕೆ ಒಳಗಾಗುವವರ ಮನಸ್ಸು  ಬಹಳ ನೋಯುತ್ತದೆ.‌

People have a way with partiality  in their family circles. Picture a dinner time. A man or lady with a big vessel of curry and a ladle in it, if he/she is serving a  close person, puts the ladle very deep into the curry to serve the best pieces of vegetables or meat. On the contrary if he/she is serving a person who is not a favourite will just take the curry from the surface and serve it. This time no vegetables or meat, only watery curry! The person serving might get a kind of sadistic pleasure in doing so, but the person who is in the recieving end feels very bad. This is not fair….but people are unfair sometimes. Sad, but true.
