ಕನ್ನಡ ಗಾದೆಮಾತು – ಎಲ್ಲ ಬಣ್ಣ ಮಸಿ ನುಂಗ್ತು.

ಕನ್ನಡ ಭಾಷೆಯ ಒಂದು ಪ್ರಸಿದ್ಧ ಗಾದೆಮಾತು ಇದು. ಚಿತ್ರಕಾರನೊಬ್ಬ ದಿನಗಟ್ಟಲೆ ಶ್ರಮವಹಿಸಿ, ವಿಧವಿಧ ಬಣ್ಣಗಳ ಕಲಾತ್ಮಕ ಸಂಯೋಜನೆಯಿಂದ ಸುಂದರವಾದ ಚಿತ್ರವೊಂದನ್ನು ರಚಿಸಿದ್ದು, ಇನ್ನೇನು ಮುಗಿಯಿತು ಎಂಬಷ್ಟರಲ್ಲಿ ಒಂದು ವೇಳೆ ಕಪ್ಪು ಬಣ್ಣ (ಮಸಿ ಬಣ್ಣ) ಆ ಚಿತ್ರದ ಮೇಲೆ ಚೆಲ್ಲಾಡಿದರೆ ಏನಾಗಬಹುದು? ಉಳಿದ ಯಾವ ಬಣ್ಣವೂ ಕಾಣಿಸದೆ ಇಡೀ ಚಿತ್ರ ಕಪ್ಪಿನ ಮುದ್ದೆಯಾಗಿ, ಕೆಟ್ಟದಾಗಿ ಕಾಣುತ್ತದೆ, ಅಲ್ಲವೆ? ಹಾಗೆಯೇ ನಮ್ಮಲ್ಲಿರುವ ಕೆಲವು ದುರ್ಗುಣಗಳು ಉದಾಹರಣೆಗೆ ಅತಿಕೋಪ, ಚಾಡಿ ಹೇಳುವ ಬುದ್ಧಿ, ವಿಪರೀತ ಹೊಟ್ಟೆಕಿಚ್ಚು, ಅಥವಾ ನಾವು ಅವಿವೇಕದಿಂದ ಮಾಡುವ ಯಾವುದೋ ಒಂದು ಅಚಾತುರ್ಯ….ಈ ಮುಂತಾದವು ನಮ್ಮ ಬೇರೆಲ್ಲ ಸದ್ಗುಣಗಳನ್ನು ನುಂಗಿ ನೀರು ಕುಡಿದು, ನಮ್ಮ ದುರ್ಗುಣವೊಂದೇ ತಾನೇತಾನಾಗಿ ಎದ್ದು ಕಾಣುವಂತಾಗುತ್ತದೆ. ಹೀಗಾಗಿ ನಾವು ‘ಮಸಿಯಂತಹ’ ದುರ್ಗುಣ ಅಥವಾ ದುರ್ನಡತೆ ನಮ್ಮಲ್ಲಿ ಇಲ್ಲದಂತೆ, ಅಪ್ಪಿತಪ್ಪಿ ಇದ್ದರೂ ಅದು ಮುಂದುವರಿಯದಂತೆ ಜಾಗ್ರತೆ ವಹಿಸಬೇಕು. 

Kannada proverb – Ella banna masi nungthu (Black colour devoured all the colours).

This is a very famous proverb in Kannada. Let us say a painter has painstakingly created a beautiful painting with delicate mixture of variety of shades, with days and days of hard work. But, by chance, in the end, when the painting is about to be finished,  if black colour got spilled on the painting, what happens? No other colour is seen except black and the whole painting becomes a mess. Isn’t it? Just like that though a man or woman has many virtues, one vice like too much anger, stinginess, quality of backbiting, some troublesome thing  he or she did without thinking can paint his or her whole personality in black.Therefore we need to be very careful and examine ourselves periodically to check for such vices in our personality.
