ಕನ್ನಡ ಗಾದೆ ಮಾತು – ಗಡ್ಡಕ್ಕೆ ಬೆಂಕಿ ಹತ್ತಿದಾಗ ಬಾವಿ ತೋಡಿದರಂತೆ.

ಉತ್ತಮವಾದ ಜೀವನಕ್ಕೆ ಪೂರ್ವ ಯೋಜನೆ ತುಂಬ ಅಗತ್ಯ. ಶಾಲಾ ಕಾಲೇಜಿನ ಪರೀಕ್ಷೆ, ಹಬ್ಬ, ಮದುವೆ, ಸಮಾರಂಭ, ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ರಮ ಯಾವುದೇ ಇರಲಿ, ಒಳ್ಳೆಯ ಪೂರ್ವಯೋಜನೆ ಇದ್ದು ಹಂತಹಂತವಾಗಿ ಸಕಾಲಕ್ಕೆ ಕೆಲಸ ಮಾಡಿದರೆ ಅನಗತ್ಯ ಒತ್ತಡವಿಲ್ಲದೆ ಗುರಿ ಸಾಧಿಸಬಹುದು. ಆದರೆ ಯಾವುದೇ ವಿನ್ಯಾಸ, ಪೂರ್ವ ಯೋಜನೆ ಇಲ್ಲದೆ ಗಡಿಬಿಡಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಏನಾದರೂ ಮಾಡಲು ಹೊರಟರೆ ಬೇಕಾದ್ದೇನೂ ಕೈಗೆ ಸಿಗದೆ, ಬೇಕಾದವರು ಲಭ್ಯವಾಗದೆ ಪರದಾಡುವಂತಾಗುತ್ತದೆ.‌ ಅದಕ್ಕಾಗಿಯೇ ನೋಡಿ ವಿವೇಕಿಗಳು ಹೇಳುವುದು – ಗಡ್ಡಕ್ಕೆ ಬೆಂಕಿ ಹತ್ತಿದಾಗ ಬಾವಿ ತೋಡಿದಂತೆ ಆಗಬಾರದು ಎಂದು.‌ ಬಾವಿ ತೋಡಿ ನೀರು ಬರುವಷ್ಟರಲ್ಲಿ ಗಡ್ಡ, ಮುಖ, ಮೈ ಎಲ್ಲ ಸುಟ್ಟು ಹೋಗಿರುತ್ತವೆ. ಹೀಗೆ, ಜೀವನದಲ್ಲಿ‌ ಪೂರ್ವ ಯೋಜನೆಯ ಪ್ರಾಮುಖ್ಯವನ್ನು ಈ ಗಾದೆಮಾತು ತುಂಬ ಚಿತ್ರಕವಾಗಿ ಹೇಳುತ್ತದೆ. 

Kannada proverb : Gaddakke benki haththidaga baavi thodidranthe( They started digging the well, when the beard caught fire).

This proverb in Kannada instructs us about preplanning which is necessary for good work. If we keep postponing everything till the last minute, our plan can not be executed well. The metaphor given in this proverb is very catchy. When the beard catches fire, if one starts digging the well, it will be too late when he gets water – that too is a matter of chance, because sometimes you do not get water when you dig for it!-  to put out the fire!

That is why we should refrain from postponing everything till the last minute.
