ಕನ್ನಡ ಗಾದೆಮಾತು – ಜನ ಮರುಳೋ ಜಾತ್ರೆ ಮರುಳೋ.

ಜನರು ಒಂಟಿಯಾಗಿದ್ದಾಗ ಅಥವಾ ತಮ್ಮ ಕುಟುಂಬದವರೊಂದಿಗೆ ಇದ್ದಾಗ ಹೇಗೆ ಇರುತ್ತಾರೋ ಯೋಚಿಸುತ್ತಾರೋ ಅದು  ಅವರವರಿಗೆ ಸಂಬಂಧಿಸಿದ ವಿಷಯ. ‌ಆದರೆ ಜನರು ಜಾತ್ರೆಯಂತೆ ಗುಂಪು ಸೇರಿದಾಗ ಕೆಲವೊಮ್ಮೆ ವಿಚಿತ್ರವಾಗಿ, ವಿಲಕ್ಷಣವಾಗಿ ವರ್ತಿಸುತ್ತಾರೆ. ಗಣಪತಿಯ ವಿಗ್ರಹವು ಹಾಲು ಕುಡಿಯಿತು ಎಂದು ನಂಬುವುದು, ದೇವರ ವಿಗ್ರಹವೊಂದು ಕಣ್ಣು ತೆರೆಯಿತು ಎಂದು ಸುದ್ದಿ ಹಬ್ಬಿಸುವುದು,  ಯಾರೋ ಏನೋ  ಯಾವ ಕಾರಣಕ್ಕೋ ಏನೋ ಒಂದು ಕೆಲಸ ಮಾಡಿದರೆ ಅವರನ್ನು ನೋಡಿ ಕುರಿಗಳಂತೆ ತಾವೂ ಅದನ್ನೇ ಎಲ್ಲರೂ ಮಾಡುವುದು..,.. ಹೀಗೆ.‌ ಇಂಗ್ಲೀಷ್ ನಲ್ಲಿ ಇದನ್ನು ಮಾಸ್ ಹಿಸ್ಟೀರಿಯಾ ಎನ್ನುತ್ತಾರೆ. ಗುಂಪು ಸೇರಿದಾಗ ಜನ ವಿವೇಚನೆ ಕಳೆದುಕೊಂಡು ಮರುಳು ಮರುಳಾಗಿ ಆಡುವುದನ್ನು ನೋಡಿಯೇ  ಈ ಗಾದೆಮಾತನ್ನು ಮಾಡಿರಬೇಕು.

Kannada proverb – Jana marulo jaatre marulo? ( Whether people are mad, or fare is mad?)

When people are upto themselves or in their families, how they think or behave, the matter is left to them. But when they come together as a mass or a crowd they can behave in bizarre ways. Mass hysteria is a term which explains this phenomenon. When people are in a crowd they can behave illogically. It is proved again and again in history. Therefore when people gather in a fare or mass their behavior is unpredictable. Thus, this proverb is a good observation about human behavior.
