ಕನ್ನಡ ಗಾದೆಮಾತು – ಕೋಣನ ಮುಂದೆ ಕಿನ್ನರಿ ಬಾರಿಸಿದ್ಹಂಗೆ

ಎಮ್ಮೆ, ಕೋಣಗಳ ಮನಸ್ಸಲ್ಲಿ‌ ಏನಿದೆಯೋ ಹೇಳಬಲ್ಲವರಾರು? ಆದರೆ ನಾವು ಮನುಷ್ಯರು ನಮ್ಮ ಸಹಜೀವಿಗಳ  ಮೊದ್ದುತನಕ್ಕೋ, ಪೆದ್ದುತನಕ್ಕೋ, ಅರಸಿಕತೆಗೋ ಈ‌ ಪ್ರಾಣಿಗಳನ್ನು ರೂಪಕವಾಗಿ ತೆಗೆದುಕೊಂಡು ಪರಸ್ಪರ ಲೇವಡಿ ಮಾಡಿಕೊಳ್ಳುವುದು ಮಾತ್ರ ಕಾಲಾನುಕಾಲದಿಂದಲೂ ತಪ್ಪಿಲ್ಲ. ‘ಕಿನ್ನರಿ ಎಂಬ ವಾದ್ಯವನ್ನು ಕೋಣನ ಮುಂದೆ ನುಡಿಸಿದರೆ/ಬಾರಿಸಿದರೆ ಏನೂ ಪ್ರಯೋಜನ ಇಲ್ಲ, ಅದು ಆ ವಾದ್ಯದ ನಾದ ಮಾಧುರ್ಯವನ್ನು ಕೇಳಿಸಿಕೊಳ್ಳುವುದೂ ಇಲ್ಲ, ಅದಕ್ಕೆ ಸ್ಪಂದಿಸುವುದೂ ಇಲ್ಲ’ – ಈ ಚಿಂತನೆಯಿಂದ ಹೊರಟ ಗಾದೆಮಾತಿದು. ಅಸೂಕ್ಷ್ಮ ಜನರ ಮುಂದೆ, ಅರಸಿಕರ ಮುಂದೆ ಕಲಾಪ್ರಸ್ತುತಿ ಮಾಡುವುದರಿಂದ ಅಥವಾ ನಾಜೂಕು ಗ್ರಹಿಕೆ ಬೇಡುವ ಮಾತುಗಳನ್ನು ಆಡುವುದರಿಂದ ಏನೂ ಪ್ರಯೋಜನ ಇಲ್ಲ‌ ಎನ್ನುವುದನ್ನು ಹೇಳುವಾಗ ದೃಷ್ಟಾಂತವಾಗಿ ಈ‌ ಗಾದೆಮಾತನ್ನು ಬಳಸುತ್ತಾರೆ.  

Kannada proverb – Konana munde kinnari baarisidhange (It is like playing a string instrument to a Buffalo). 

This proverb is used in the context of insensitive people who lack higher taste. If we play a musical instrument in front of a buffalo it won’t respond or appreciate it ( At least we humans can not decipher its response). Likewise insensitive persons can not understand the nusances of words or music. It is no use telling them anything. Even if you repeatedly tell them something you won’t get a congenial response. They are thick skinned people. When dealing with such persons, to express our frustration, this proverb is used.
