ಕನ್ನಡ ಗಾದೆಮಾತು‌ – ಆನೆಯಂಥದೂ ಮುಗ್ಗರಿಸ್ತದೆ.

ನಮ್ಮ ಹಿರಿಯರ ಅನುಭವದ ಸಾರ ಈ ಗಾದೆಮಾತು.  ಮನುಷ್ಯರು ತಮ್ಮ ವಯಸ್ಸು, ಸ್ಥಾನಮಾನ, ವಿದ್ಯೆ, ಅಧಿಕಾರ ಇಂತಹ ಸಮೃದ್ಧಿಗಳನ್ನು ನೆಚ್ಚಿಕೊಂಡು, ನೆಮ್ಮಿಕೊಂಡು ತಮ್ಮಿಂದ ಎಂದೂ ಯಾವ ತಪ್ಪೂ ಆಗುವುದಿಲ್ಲ ಎಂದು ಭಾವಿಸಿದರೆ ಅದು ವಿವೇಕದ ನಡೆ ಅಲ್ಲ. ಯಾವಾಗಲೂ ಗಂಭೀರವಾಗಿ ಹೆಜ್ಜೆಹಾಕುವ (ಗಜಗಾಂಭೀರ್ಯ ಎಂಬ ನುಡಿಗಟ್ಟೇ ಇದೆಯಲ್ಲವೆ ಕನ್ನಡದಲ್ಲಿ), ಕಾಡಿನ ಕೀರ್ತಿಕಲಶದಂತಹ, ದೈತ್ಯಗಾತ್ರದ ಪ್ರಾಣಿ ಆನೆಯೂ ಸಹ, ನಡೆಯುವಾಗ ಕೆಲವೊಮ್ಮೆ ಮುಗ್ಗರಿಸಬಹುದು‌.‌ ಹಾಗೆಯೇ ಬಹಳ ವಿವೇಕಿಗಳು, ವಿದ್ವಾಂಸರು ಅನ್ನಿಸಿಕೊಂಡ ಅನುಭವಸ್ಥ ಮನುಷ್ಯರೂ ಸಹ ಕೆಲವು ಸಲ ತಪ್ಪು ಮಾಡುವ ಸಾಧ್ಯತೆ ಇರುತ್ತದೆ. ಹೀಗಾಗಿ ಎಷ್ಟೇ  ಎತ್ತರಕ್ಕೇರಿದರೂ ನಾವು ಮನುಷ್ಯರು ಅಹಂಕಾರ ಪಡಬಾರದು. ಎರಡೇ ಪದಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಈ ಗಾದೆಮಾತು ಎಂತಹ ಜೀವನ ವಿವೇಕವನ್ನು ಹೇಳುತ್ತದೆ, ಅಲ್ಲವೆ?

Kannada proverb – Aaneyanthaduu muggarishtade (Even an elephant may trip).

This proverb is the result of the profound experience of our ancestors. A huge and majestic animal like an elephant which is the pride of jungle, known for its dignified walk, can sometimes trip! Similarly, a person with impressive education, power, status, and social clout can sometimes make a mistake in the course of life. The point here is, no one can confidentky claim that he or she is free of error or mistakes. Therefore we need to be always humble in spite of the heights we rise to. Makes good sense. Isn’t it?
