ಕನ್ನಡ ಗಾದೆಮಾತು    –   ತಲೆ ಮೇಲೆ ಸಾಲ ಹೋಗ್ಬಾರ್ದು, ಒಲೆ ಮೇಲೆ ಬೆಂಕಿ ಹೋಗ್ಬಾರ್ದು. 

ಜೀವನ ವಿವೇಕದ ಮಾತೊಂದನ್ನು ಅಡಿಗೆ ಮನೆಯ ಹೋಲಿಕೆಯೊಂದಿಗೆ ಈ ಗಾದೆಮಾತು ಹೇಳುತ್ತದೆ. ನಾವು ಸಾಲ ಮಾಡುವಾಗ, ಯಾವತ್ತೂ ಸಹ,  ಎಂದಿಗೂ ತೀರಿಸಲಾಗದಷ್ಟು ಪ್ರಮಾಣದಲ್ಲಿ ಸಾಲ ಮಾಡಬಾರದು‌. ಹೀಗೆ ಮಾಡಿದರೆ ನಾವು ಭರಿಸಲಾಗದ ಕಷ್ಟನಷ್ಟಗಳನ್ನು ಅನುಭವಿಸುತ್ತೇವೆ. ಒಲೆಯ ಬೆಂಕಿ ಹೇಗೆ ಒಲೆಯಿಂದ ಮೇಲೆ ಹೋಗಿ ಅಪಾಯವುಂಟು ಮಾಡುವ ಪರಿಸ್ಥಿತಿ ಬರಬಾರದೋ, ಹಾಗೆಯೇ ಸಾಲಸೋಲ ಎನ್ನುವುದು  ಅತಿಯಾಗಬಾರದು. ಸದಾ ಒಂದು ಮಿತಿಯಲ್ಲಿ, ನಾವು ಭರಿಸಲಾಗುವ  ಸ್ಥಿತಿಯಲ್ಲಿ  ಇರಬೇಕು. 

Kannada proverb – Thale mele saala hogbardu, ole mele benki hogbardu ( Loans should not go above the head, and fire should not go above the kiln).

This proverb teaches us a lesson in financial wisdom. We should not borrow money beyond our limits. If we do so, we will drown due the heavy amount we borrowed. We can compare it to a kiln. If the fire is within the kiln, it helps us in cooking, but if the fire goes above and beyond the kiln it might burn the whole kitchen and our homes. This is why we need to be careful both with the kiln and our loans.
