ಕನ್ನಡ ಗಾದೆಮಾತು –  ಅನ್ನ ಇಕ್ಕಿ ಸಾಕು ಅನ್ನಿಸಬಹುದು, ದುಡ್ಡು ಕೊಟ್ಟು ಸಾಕು ಅನ್ನಿಸಕ್ಕೆ ಆಗಲ್ಲ.

ಮನುಷ್ಯ ಸ್ವಭಾವ ಹಾಗೂ ಬದುಕಿನ ಬಗ್ಗೆ ಮುಖ್ಯವಾದ ಒಳನೋಟವೊಂದನ್ನು ಕೊಡುವ ಗಾದೆ ಮಾತಿದು. ಹಸಿದ ಮನುಷ್ಯನೊಬ್ಬನಿಗೆ ನೀವು ಊಟ ಬಡಿಸಿದಾಗ ಎರಡಲ್ಲ ನಾಲ್ಕು ತುತ್ತಿಗೆ ‘ ಇನ್ನು ಸಾಕು, ಹೊಟ್ಟೆ ತುಂಬಿತು’ ಎಂದು ಅವನು ಹೇಳುತ್ತಾನೆ ಮತ್ತು ಅವನಿಗೆ ಹೊಟ್ಟೆ ತುಂಬ ಬಡಿಸಿದ ತೃಪ್ತಿ ನಿಮಗೆ ಸಿಗುತ್ತದೆ. ಆದರೆ ಹಣದ ವಿಷಯದಲ್ಲಿ ಹೀಗಾಗುವುದಿಲ್ಲ.‌ ಮನುಷ್ಯನಿಗೆ ಯಾರು ಎಷ್ಟು ಹಣ ಕೊಟ್ಟರೂ ಯಾವತ್ತೂ ಅವನಿಗೆ ಸಾಕು ಅನ್ನಿಸಲ್ಲ, ಇನ್ನೂ ಬೇಕು ಬೇಕು ಅನ್ನಿಸುತ್ತಲೇ ಇರುತ್ತೆ. ಲಂಚ-ರಿಷುವತ್ತು, ಭ್ರಷ್ಟಾಚಾರ, ಕಳ್ಳತನದಂತಹ ಕೆಟ್ಟ ಸಂಗತಿಗಳಿಗೂ  ಈ ಹಣದಾಸೆಯೇ ಕಾರಣವಾಗುತ್ತದೆ.‌ ಮಾನವ ಲೋಕದ ಒಂದು ನಿಜವನ್ನು ನುಡಿದು ಈ ಗಾದೆಮಾತು ನಮಗೆ ವಿವೇಕವನ್ನು ನೀಡುವಲ್ಲಿ, ಮತ್ತು ಮನುಷ್ಯರೊಂದಿಗೆ ವ್ಯವಹರಿಸುವಾಗ ಎಚ್ಚರಿಕೆ ಇಟ್ಟುಕೊಳ್ಳುವಂತೆ ಮಾಡುವಲ್ಲಿ ಸಫಲವಾಗುತ್ತದೆ. 

Kannada proverb – Anna ikki saaku annisabahudu, duddu kottu saaku annisakkagalla( You can completely satisfy a man by offering him a meal, but you can never satisfy a man if you are offering money).

This wise proverb gives a very good insight about human greed and mother nature’s anti greed manifesto. If you invite a man for lunch or dinner and feed him at some point or the other he says ‘ I am full, it is enough, thank you’. But instead of food if you offer money to a man, howmuch ever you give him he will not be satisfied ;  He will ask for more. Therefore we need to take this proverb as an advice of caution when we are dealing with fellow human beings.
