ಕನ್ನಡ ಗಾದೆಮಾತು – ಮರ ಹತ್ತುವವನನ್ನು‌ ಕೈಗೆಟಕುವವೆರೆಗೆ ಮಾತ್ರ ನೂಕಬಹುದು.

ನಾವು ಇನ್ನೊಬ್ಬರಿಗೆ ಅಂದರೆ ಮಕ್ಕಳಿಗೆ, ವಿದ್ಯಾರ್ಥಿಗಳಿಗೆ ಮತ್ತು ನಮ್ಮ ಸಹಾಯವನ್ನು ಬಯಸಿ ಬಂದವರಿಗೆ ಮಾಡುವಂತಹ ಸಹಾಯಕ್ಕೆ ಒಂದು ಮಿತಿ ಇರುತ್ತದೆ. ಬೇರೆಯವರು ನಮಗೆ ಮಾಡಬಹುದಾದ ವಿಷಯದಲ್ಲೂ ಇದು ನಿಜ. ಮರ ಹತ್ತುವವರಿಗೆ ನಾವು, ನಮ್ಮ ಕೈಗೆ ಅವರು ಎಟಕುವ ತನಕ ಮಾತ್ರ ಅವರನ್ನು ಮೇಲಕ್ಕೆ ನೂಕಬಹುದು. ಆಮೇಲೆ  ಸ್ವತಃ ಅವರೇ ಮೇಲೆ ಮೇಲೆ ಹತ್ತಬೇಕು‌. ಈ ವಿವೇಕದ ಮಾತನ್ನು ನೆನಪಿಟ್ಟುಕೊಂಡರೆ ನಾವು ಸಹಾಯ ಪಡೆಯುವುದರಲ್ಲಿ ಮತ್ತು ಕೊಡುವುದರಲ್ಲಿರುವ ಮಿತಿ ನಮಗೆ ಅರ್ಥ ಆಗುತ್ತದೆ.

Kannada proverb – Mara haththuvavanannu kaige etakuvavarege mathra nookabahudu( We can push a tree climber only till our hand reaches him).

This proverb expresses a very practical truth of life. We can push a person or help a person only to some extent, that is up to a point which we our hand can reach. After that whether they are climbing a tree, studying for a degree or doing a new business, they have be on their own. It applies to both giving and taking help. Therefore knowledge of this proverb keeps us grounded in life, in the matters of offering or taking help.
