ಕನ್ನಡ ಗಾದೆಮಾತು – ಮಾತಿನ ಮಲ್ಲ, ಕೆಲಸಕ್ಕೆ ಒಲ್ಲ.

ಕೆಲವು ಜನ ಹೇಗಿರುತ್ತಾರೆಂದರೆ ಸದಾ ಕಾಲ ಮಾತು ಮಾತು ಮಾತು. ಕೆಲಸ ಮಾಡುವ ಬಗ್ಗೆ  ಮಾತಾಡುತ್ತಾರೆಯೇ ಹೊರತು ಕೆಲಸ ಮಾತ್ರ ಯಾವತ್ತೂ ಮಾಡುವುದಿಲ್ಲ. ಇಂತಹವರಿಂದ ಯಾರಿಗೂ ಯಾವ ಪ್ರಯೋಜನವೂ ಇಲ್ಲ.‌ ಸರ್ವಜ್ಞ ಕವಿ ಕೂಡ ಹೀಗೆ ಮಾತಾಡಿ- ಮಾತಾಡಿಯೇ ಹೊತ್ತು ಕಳೆದು, ಕೆಲಸವೇ ಮಾಡದವರನ್ನು ‘ತಾನಾಡಿಯೂ ಮಾಡದವನು ಅಧಮ ತಾ ಸರ್ವಜ್ಞ’ ಎಂದಿದ್ದಾನೆ‌‌. ಮಾತಲ್ಲೇ ಮಹಲು ಕಟ್ಟಿ ಸಮಯ ವ್ಯರ್ಥ ಮಾಡುವವರನ್ನು ಟೀಕಿಸುವಂತಹ ಗಾದೆ ಮಾತಿದು‌. 

Kannada proverb – Maathina malla, kelasakke olla ( All talk, no work).

There some people who keep on talking but none of their talk translates into work. Such persons are not of any use to their homes or society. They talk and talk of doing work, but actually they never do a single thing. In Kannada speaking communities such persons are criticised by quoting the above proverb. Malla in Kannada means a person who is an expert in boxing. Here it is referred to a man who is expert in empty talk.
