ಕನ್ನಡ ಗಾದೆಮಾತು – ಕೀಟ ಸಣ್ಣದಾದ್ರೆ ಕಾಟ ಸಣ್ಣದೆ?

ಸೊಳ್ಳೆ, ನುಸಿ, ನೊಣಗಳಂತಹ ಕೀಟಗಳು ಗಾತ್ರದಲ್ಲಿ ಸಣ್ಣವಾದರೂ ಕಚ್ಚಿ, ಗುಂಯ್ಗುಟ್ಟಿ, ನಮ್ಮ ಆಹಾರವನ್ನು ಕಲುಷಿತಗೊಳಿಸುತ್ತವೆ‌. ಹೀಗೆಯೇ ಕೆಲವು ಚಿಕ್ಕ ಚಿಕ್ಕ ಸಮಸ್ಯೆಗಳು, ಉದಾಹರಣೆಗೆ, ದಾರಿ ಮಧ್ಯೆ ಚಪ್ಪಲಿ ಕಿತ್ತುಹೋಗುವುದು, ಪೆನ್ನಿನ ಮುಚ್ಚಳ ಕಳೆದುಹೋಗುವುದು, ಅಥವಾ ಸಣ್ಣಗೆ ಶೀತವಾಗಿ ಸದಾ ಮೂಗು‌ ಸುರಿಯಲಾರಂಭಿಸುವುದು ….ಇಂಥವು ಸಣ್ಣ ಸಮಸ್ಯೆಗಳಾದರೂ ನಮಗೆ ಸಾಕಷ್ಟು ಕಿರಿಕಿರಿಯುಂಟುಮಾಡುತ್ತವೆ‌. ಕೆಲವು ಸಲವಂತೂ ಹೆಜ್ಜೇನು ಕಡಿಯುವುದು, ರೋಗ ತರುವ ಸೊಳ್ಳೆ ಕಚ್ಚುವುದು – ಈ  ಮುಂತಾದ ಘಟಿತಗಳು ನಿಜಕ್ಕೂ ಮಾರಣಾಂತಿಕ ತೊಂದರೆ ಮಾಡಬಹುದು. ಇದಕ್ಕಾಗಿಯೇ ಈ ಗಾದೆ ಮಾತು ಬಂದಿದೆ – ಕೀಟ ಸಣ್ಣದಾದರೂ ಕಾಟ ಸಣ್ಣದೆ? 

Kannada proverb – Keeta  sannadaadre kaata sannade? ( If the insect is small, is the trouble small?).

Small insects like mosquitos, flies and fruit flies, though small in size, can trouble us considerably. The irritation they cause, the diseases they bring, in total the inconvenience they cause is not small. Likewise a pebble stuck in our footwear, or a pin which is stuck in our clothes, or a lost key can spoil our day. The object may be small, but the trouble it causes is big! Isn’t it? So, the proverb.
