ಕನ್ನಡ ಗಾದೆಮಾತು – ಚಾಡಿ ಮಾತಿನಿಂದ ಚಾವಡಿ ಹಾಳಾಯ್ತು.

ಇನ್ನೊಬ್ಬರ ಬೆನ್ನ ಹಿಂದೆ ಅವರ ಬಗ್ಗೆ ಕೆಟ್ಟದಾಗಿ ಮಾತಾಡುವುದನ್ನು ಚಾಡಿ ಹೇಳುವುದು ಎನ್ನುತ್ತಾರೆ. ಈ ಅಭ್ಯಾಸವು ಚಾಡಿ ಹೇಳುವವರು, ಅದನ್ಬು ಕೇಳಿಸಿಕೊಳ್ಳುವವರು ಹಾಗೂ ಯಾರ ಬಗ್ಗೆ ಆ ಚಾಡಿಮಾತು ಆಡಲಾಗುತ್ತಿದೆಯೋ ಅವರು – ಈ ಮೂವರಿಗೂ ಕೆಡುಕನ್ನುಂಟುಮಾಡುತ್ತದೆ‌. ಚಾಡಿಮಾತು ಸತ್ಯವನ್ನು ತಿರುಚಿ, ತಪ್ಪು ಮನೋಮೂಡಿಕೆಗಳನ್ನು ಕೊಡುತ್ತದೆ‌‌, ಸಂಬಂಧಗಳನ್ನು ಹಾಳು ಮಾಡುತ್ತದೆ‌, ಹಾಗೂ ಅಕಾರಣ ದ್ವೇಷ-ಕಹಿಗಳನ್ನು ಮನಸ್ಸುಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಹುಟ್ಟಿಸುತ್ತದೆ.

ಮನೆಯ ಜಗಲಿ ಅನ್ನುವ ಅರ್ಥದಲ್ಲಿ ಚಾವಡಿ ಪದವನ್ನು ಬಳಸಲಿ ಅಥವಾ ರಾಜರ ದರ್ಬಾರು ಅನ್ನುವ ಅರ್ಥದಲ್ಲಿ ‘ಚಾವಡಿ’ಯನ್ನು ಬಳಸಲಿ ಎಲ್ಲೆಲ್ಲಿಯೂ ಚಾಡಿಯು ಹಾನಿಯನ್ನೇ ಉಂಟುಮಾಡುತ್ತದೆ‌. ಹೀಗಾಗಿ ಸಜ್ಜನರು ಎಂದಿಗೂ ಚಾಡಿ ಮಾತನ್ನು ಪುರಸ್ಕರಿಸುವುದಿಲ್ಲ. ‘ಚಾಡಿ ಮಾತಿನಿಂದ ಚಾವಡಿ ಹಾಳಾಯ್ತು’ ಎಂಬ ಈ ಗಾದೆಮಾತನ್ನು ಜೀವನದಲ್ಲಿ ಪಾಲಿಸುವುದು ಸಜ್ಜನರ ಬಹುಮುಖ್ಯ ಗುಣಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಒಂದು.

Kannada proverb – Chaadi maathininda chavadi haalaaythu (Because of gossip the convention got spoiled)

Talking bad tings behind people’s back or gossipping is one of the the worst habits of a human being. This spoils relationships. The gossipper, the listener and the one about whom the gossip is going on – all three are harmed because of the malice filled words. Therefore gossip mongering can spoil any gathering’s atmosphere. This is the reason, the above proverb warns us that congregations are spoiled because of gossip. The take home lesson is we should never indulge in gossip.
