ಕನ್ನಡ ಗಾದೆಮಾತು – ಧನಿಕನ ಮನೆಯ ಶುನಕಕ್ಕೂ ಮನ್ನಣೆ.

ಸಮಾಜದಲ್ಲಿ ಹಣವಂತರಿಗೆ ವಿಶೇಷ ಸ್ಥಾನಮಾನ ಇರುವುದು ಎಲ್ಲರಿಗೂ ಗೊತ್ತಿರುವ ವಿಷಯ. ‘ಹಣ ಕಂಡರೆ ಹೆಣವೂ ಬಾಯಿ ಬಿಡುತ್ತೆ’ ಎಂಬ ನಾಣ್ಣುಡಿಯು  ಕನ್ನಡಿಗರ ಸಮುದಾಯದಲ್ಲಿ ಬಳಕೆಯಲ್ಲಿದೆ.‌ ಧನಿಕರು ಮತ್ತು ಅವರಿಗೆ ಸಂಬಂಧ ಪಟ್ಟ ಎಲ್ಲಕ್ಕೂ, ಉದಾಹರಣೆಗೆ ಒಂದು ಶುನಕ(ನಾಯಿ)ಕ್ಕೂ ಸಮಾಜದಲ್ಲಿ ವಿಶೇಷ ಮನ್ನಣೆ ಇರುತ್ತದೆ. “ಬಡವರ ಮನೆಯ ಮಕ್ಕಳಾಗಿ ಹುಟ್ಟುವುದಕ್ಕಿಂತ ಶ್ರೀಮಂತರ ಮನೆಯ ನಾಯಿಯಾಗಿ ಹುಟ್ಟುವುದು ಮೇಲು!’ ಎಂಬ ಮಾತು ಸಹ ಪ್ರಚಲಿತವಾಗಿದೆ‌. ಹೀಗಾಗಿ ಈ ಗಾದೆಮಾತು ಮನುಷ್ಯನ ಸಮಾಜದ ಒಂದು ಕಟುಸತ್ಯವನ್ನು ದಾಖಲಿಸುತ್ತದೆ ಎಂದರೆ ತಪ್ಪಿಲ್ಲ.

Kannada proverb – Dhanikana maneya shunakakkuu mannane (Even a dog from a rich man’s home is respected in the society).

 Class difference is a real thing. There is a clear differential treatment for the rich and poor in modern societies. The pets in the homes of rich people are far more comfortably placed compared to the children at poor homes. This is sad but true. By stating that, even a dog from a rich man’s house is respected in the society, the above proverb has sensitively depicted the state of affairs in our human civilization.
