ಕನ್ನಡ ಗಾದೆಮಾತು – ಜಿದ್ದು, ಜೀವಕ್ಕೆ ಗುದ್ದು‌.

 ಜಿದ್ದು ಎಂಬ ಪದಕ್ಕೆ ನಿಘಂಟಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಬದ್ಧ ಮಾತ್ಸರ್ಯ, ವೈರ, ಹಠ, ಸೇಡು ಮುಂತಾದ ಅರ್ಥಗಳಿವೆ. ಒಟ್ಟಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಇವೆಲ್ಲವೂ ನಕಾರಾತ್ಮಕ ಭಾವನೆಗಳು.‌ ಇನ್ನೊಬ್ಬರ ಬಗ್ಗೆ ಹಗೆತನ ಸಾಧಿಸುವುದು, ದ್ವೇಷ ಇಟ್ಟುಕೊಳ್ಳುವುದು … ಇವೆಲ್ಲ ನಮ್ಮ ಜೀವಕ್ಕೆ ಆರಾಮ ತರುವ ವಿಷಯಗಳಲ್ಲ.  ಜೀವಕ್ಕೆ ಗುದ್ದು ಕೊಟ್ಟಂತೆ ನಮಗೆ ಕಷ್ಟ ಕೊಡುವ ಅನುಭವಗಳು ಇವು. ದುರ್ಯೋಧನನು ಪಾಂಡವರ ಮೇಲೆ ಜಿದ್ದು ಇಟ್ಟುಕೊಂಡು ತನ್ನ ಸಕಲ ಸಾಮ್ರಾಜ್ಯವನ್ನು ಮತ್ತು ನೆಮ್ಮದಿಯನ್ನು ಕಳೆದುಕೊಂಡಂತೆ ಇದು. ಹೀಗಾಗಿ ನಾವು‌ ಜಿದ್ದು ಎಂಬ ವಿಷವನ್ನು ನಮ್ಮೊಳಗೆ ಇಟ್ಟುಕೊಳ್ಳಬಾರದೆಂಬ ಜೀವನ ವಿವೇಕವನ್ನು ಈ‌ ಗಾದೆಮಾತು ಹೇಳುತ್ತದೆ.

Some people have the habit of nurturing hatred, revenge, and a rigid attitude towards others for their real or perceived slights or mistakes. The anger/revengeful attitude may or may not be justified, but it does corrode the inner chambers of the holder. It is like an acid which corrodes the walls of the very vessel which contains it. This is why the above proverb warns us against holding grudges‌, jealousy or anger against our fellow beings.
