ಕನ್ನಡ ವಚನದ ಸಾಲು – ‘ಮೃದುವಚನವೆ ಸಕಲ ಜಪಂಗಳಯ್ಯಾ’.

ಬಸವಣ್ಣನವರ ಒಂದು ಪ್ರಸಿದ್ಧ ವಚನದ ಮೊದಲ ಸಾಲು ಇದು – ‘ಮೃದುವಚನವೆ ಸಕಲ ಜಪಂಗಳಯ್ಯಾ’.

ಈ ಭೂಮಿಯ ಮೇಲೆ ಮಾತು ಎಂಬುದು ತನ್ನ ಅತ್ಯಂತ ಪರಿಷ್ಕೃತ ರೂಪದಲ್ಲಿ ಮನುಷ್ಯ ಜೀವಿಗೆ ಮಾತ್ರ ಲಭ್ಯವಾಗಿರುವ ಒಂದು ವಿಶೇಷ ಸೌಲಭ್ಯ. ಇದನ್ನು ಇನ್ನೊಬ್ಬರಿಗೆ ನೋವಾಗದಂತೆ ಬಳಸುವುದು ಒಂದು ಕಲೆಯೂ ಹೌದು,  ಜವಾಬ್ದಾರಿಯೂ ಹೌದು. ‘ಇನ್ನೊಬ್ಬರನ್ನು ನೋಯಿಸದ ಮೃದುವಾದ ಮಾತು ಎಂಬುದು ದೇವರ ಹೆಸರನ್ನು ಜಪಿಸಿದಷ್ಟು ಶ್ರೇಷ್ಠವಾದುದು’ ಅನ್ನುವ, ವಚನ ಚಳುವಳಿಯ ನಾಯಕಮಣಿಯ ಈ ಉಕ್ತಿಯು ಪರಿಗಣನೀಯವಾದುದು. ಅಲ್ಲವೆ?

Speech at its advanced and most revised form is a great gift of nature to homo sapiens. Words can hurt or words can heal. The above quote is a line from a vachana(short prosaic poem) of the great social reformer of 12th century Karnataka, namely Basavanna. Speech, if used softly is so soothing and healing that its goodness is on par with chanting Almighty’s name. We all know that it is very pleasant interact with soft spoken people. Therefore, the above statement presents a great thought. Isn’t it?
